Setting up cookie consent can feel overwhelming, but it does not have to be. This checklist walks you through the five essential steps to go from zero to a well-configured consent setup aligned with GDPR requirements using Nuvo Consent: scan your site, classify trackers, install the SDK, publish a banner, and monitor ongoing compliance.

1. Scan your website

Add your domain to Nuvo Consent and run the first scan. The scanner crawls your site and automatically detects cookies, third-party scripts, tracking pixels, and other consent-relevant resources. Within minutes you will have a complete inventory of everything running on your pages - no manual tagging required.

2. Review and classify trackers

After the scan completes, review the detected trackers. Each finding is categorized by purpose: necessary, analytics, marketing, functional, or unclassified. Confirm or adjust the AI-suggested categories. This step is critical because your consent banner will present these categories to visitors, and misclassification can lead to compliance gaps.

3. Install the consent SDK

Copy the Nuvo Consent script tag into your website's . The SDK loads asynchronously and does not block rendering. Once installed, it automatically respects the consent categories you configured and blocks trackers until the visitor makes a choice. You can verify installation in the Nuvo Consent dashboard - a green checkmark confirms the SDK is live.

4. Customize and publish your banner

Use the Banner Studio to customize the look, feel, and behavior of your consent banner. Adjust colors, text, button labels, and layout to match your brand. Configure which categories are shown, whether the banner is dismissible, and how consent signals propagate to Google Consent Mode v2. When you are satisfied, hit publish - the banner goes live immediately.

5. Monitor ongoing compliance

Publishing is not the end. Use the Nuvo Consent dashboard to monitor consent rates, track new scan results, review the consent log, and stay ahead of regulatory changes. Set up recurring scans to catch new trackers as they appear. The compliance health score gives you a real-time view of how well your domains are meeting consent requirements.

You are all set

That is the complete checklist. Once you have scanned, classified, installed, published, and set up monitoring, your website is ready for GDPR, ePrivacy, CCPA, and other consent regulations. Nuvo Consent handles the heavy lifting - you focus on your product.
